On December 8, 2025, Antonia Fendt, Hauke Dorsch and Nico Nassenstein presented the Mainz KOSTIMA subproject as part of the colloquium on ongoing research work at the Frobenius Institute of Goethe University Frankfurt. The lecture was entitled “Counter-hegemonic voices in Congolese rumba – in the Congo, in neighboring countries and in the archive”.
In addition to an introduction to the objectives and research framework of the Subproject by Hauke Dorsch, Antonia Fendt’s research work on political messages of the Mobutu era in the archive was presented. Nico Nassenstein then took the audience on the research trip carried out in spring 2025 and also included voices on Congolese rumba music from neighboring countries.
